Napoli make bid for Tottenham defender Vertonghen?

Napoli manager Rafa Benitez has contacted Tottenham Hotspur regarding the availability of Belgium international centre back Jan Vertonghen. The former Ajax man has hinted that he could quit White Hart Lane in the summer.

Napoli are desperately seeking a new centre back to sign in the January transfer window, but it appears Spurs are not willing to sell one of their best players mid-season but could be open to offers for Vertonghen in the summer months.

The centre back has been linked with a £9 million move away from White Hart Lane and it appears that Serie A could beckon for the talented Belgian.

Benitez has been given a massive £30 million budget to spend on new players and Vertonghen remains his primary target.
