Tottenham want Barzagli
Tottenham have been linked with a January move for Palermo and Italy international defender Andrea Barzagli. He has 19 caps for the Italian national football team and is now considered a regular within the international side often ahead of the likes of Alessandro Nesta and Fabio Cannavaro.
On July 16, 2007, it was rumoured that Newcastle United are considering making a a bid of â¬11,000,000 in attempt to sign Barzagli, however this speculation was later played down by manager Sam Allardyce who stated he was looking for defenders with âpremier league experienceâ.
Juande Ramos is expected to have to pay up to £8m to get the Italian to join Tottenham from Palermo. Barzagli is considered one of the best defenders in Italy, and Juventus, Milan and Inter Milan will all be monitoring the situation closely in January.
