Arsenal to bid for Chris Smalling?

The Daily Star is reporting that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is to make a transfer bid for Man Utd defender Chris Smalling.The former Fulham man has struggled to secure a starting spot under David Moyes but remains a regular fixture in his first team squads.

A report suggests that United are open to offers and £11m could be enough to persuade United to sell the defender. Arsenal famously went head to head with United to sign Smalling just before the defender chose a transfer switch to Old Trafford.
