Arsenal closing in on Javi Martinez's signature

Arsenal are reportedly inching closer to sealing a deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez this summer, according to German daily Bild.

The talented Spaniard is understood to be disillusioned with life under manager Pep Guardiola, having been benched for most of the big games this season.

 

Bild claims that the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen on signing up the former Athletic Bilbao man, due to his ability to play as either a holding midfielder or a as central defender.

 

It is understood that Martinez would favour a switch to the Emirates, as he would be guaranteed regular first-team football.

 

Martinez has three years left on his contract with the Bavarian giants.
