Liverpool eye Benfica star as Adam Lallana alternative
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers may shift his focus to Benfica winger Lazar Markovic following reports that Southampton have opted to stall on their offer for Adam Lallana.
The Reds are understood to be keen on strengthening their attacking department in the upcoming transfer window, and have already secured the services of Emre Can and Rickie Lambert from Bayer Leverkusen and Southampton respectively.
Reports now suggest that Rodgers would opt to sign the Serbian winger, with the Saints not willing to accept a deal for Adam Lallana, as they would have to pay a considerable sell-on-fee to his former club Bournemouth.
Chelsea have also shown interest in signing Markovic over the past year.
