Man Utd prepare move for Nigel de Jong

Manchester United are reportedly readying a bid for AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong during the summer transfer window, according to The People.

De Jong, who previously played for arch rivals Manchester City in the Premier League, has been linked with a summer exit from the Rossoneri, with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool keen on landing his signature.

However, the People claims that United could have the front foot in landing the 29-year-old's signature, due to the close relation of the midfielder with Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal, who is set to take over the reigns at Old Trafford after the World Cup.

It is understood that the Mancunian giants will make a bid of around £6m for the Netherlands star.
