Liverpool are reportedly set to make a summer offer for Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez, as they aim to cover up the loss of Luis Suarez, who recently joined Barcelona.

The talented England international is currently sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament injury which he sustained in April, and is unlikely to return to first-team action until October.

However , The Mail reports that manager Brendan Rodgers is still keen on signing up the 24-year-old, with the club in need of a top-class striker to accompany the likes of Rickie Lambert and Daniel Sturridge in the attack front next season.
