Arsenal close to Mathieu Debuchy capture

Arsenal are apparently close to the signing of Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle United this summer, according to ESPN.

The talented French international has been constantly linked with a switch to the Gunners in recent weeks, with the club keen on signing a top-class defender to replace Bacary Sagna, who joined Manchester City on a free transfer earlier this summer.

ESPN reports that the North London club are expected to confirm the imminent arrival of the 28-year-old, with Newcastle United edging closer to the signing of Feyenoord defender Daryl Janmaat.

Arsenal are also believed to have agreed a fee with Real Madrid over the transfer of German star Sami Khedira.
