Arsenal's bid for Carvalho rejected?

Portuguese reports claim that that Sporting Lisbon has turned down a £24 million(€30 million) bid by Premier League club Arsenal for Portuguese midfielder William Carvalho.
It is believed that his club are holding out for an offer closer to the €45 million release clause he has in his current contract.
Arsenal is reluctant to shell out a high amount for the midfielder.
With the signings of striker Alexis Sanchez and defender Mathieu Debuchy already announced, Gunners fans are expecting another announcement by manager Arsene Wenger this week.
Carvalho would be a great addition to the Arsenal squad as not only is he a young talent but he could also be signed as a long term replacement for Mikel Arteta and is also comfortable operating as a holding midfielder and as a centreback.
He had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United for the early part of the summer but the reports died down.
