Atletico Madrid open talks for Fernando Torres
Atletico Madrid have opened talks with Chelsea in a move to sign Fernando Torres. The former Liverpool man grew up playing for Atletico and looks set for a return to his homeland.
It is understood that Chelsea have agreed to part company with Torres and that Atletico's initial bid of 10 million euros has been accepted already. The Blues have signed Diego Costa as a long term replacement for Torres, who has struggled to recapture the form that made him one of Europe's most feared strikers at Anfield. Chelsea are hopeful that a deal will be agreed in time for the start of August, when Jose Mourinho is planning to have finalised his squad for the 2014-15 season.
