Espanyol: our stars staying

Espanyol have swiftly move to reject rumours that their two stars Daniel Jarque and Albert Riera will shortly be leaving the club. Riera is wanted by Real Madrid and Man City, whilst Juande Ramos continues to chase Daniel Jarque for Tottenham.

"Espanyol are not interested in the sale of important players like Jarque and Riera.

"If a club is interested it is only possible if they pay the market value."

Espanyol coach Ernesto Valverde has agreed: "I do not know if the rumours are true or not but these questions will affect the work of the players.

"I have demanded to the club that they reject the sale of Riera or Jarque because this pair are crucial to the team and our aspirations."
