Wolfsburg in for Podolski
German international Lukas Podolski is inching closer to an Arsenal exit, after Wolfsburg join the race to sign the forward.
With the arrival of Alexis Sanchez to the Emirates Stadium from Spanish side Barcelona this summer, the 29-year-old will have to compete for a place in the club’s starting line-up.
Reports suggested that boss Arsene Wenger had allowed the World Cup winning star to leave the Gunners if he wanted to, with Turkish sides Galatasaray and Besiktas keen on sign the player along with a few Bundesliga sides.
But according to German publication Sport Bild, the Wolves are now the frontrunners in obtaining the services of the former Bayern Munich footballer, as they look to add some quality up front.
Wolfsburg, who missed out on a place in the Champions League by merely a point last year, have already brought in Sebastian Jung, Nicklas Bendtner, Aaron Hunt and Joshua Guilavogui this year.
They have already lost their season opener 2-1 against Bayern Munich earlier today, and will be hoping to make things better by signing the Eagles’ star.
