Wayne Rooney made New England captain

Wayne Rooney has been appointed the new England captain, replacing Steven Gerrard.The Man Utd striker has been named captain despite many hoping Joe Hart would take the skipper role.

The player was announced as Roy Hodgson's preferred captain this afternoon as the manager announced his first squad after the disappointing World Cup tournament.
