Lisbon star to complete Arsenal transfer in January

Arsenal could reportedly seal the transfer of William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon during the winter transfer window, according to The Metro.

The Gunners had been heavily associated with a move for the Portuguese international over the summer, but a deal failed to materialise.

However, with the likes of Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini failing to impress at the start of the campaign, it is believed that the Gunners boss is keen on signing a holding midfielder at the start of the year.

A report from The Metro claims that the North London outfit will come up with a renewed offer for the talented midfielder when the transfer window reopens in January.

Arsenal host arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday.
