Man Utd in for Ivan Rakitic?

Manchester United are plotting a January move for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic, The Express reports.

The Croatia international joined the Catalan giants from Sevilla over the summer, but has failed to impress since his transfer.

The Express claims that the Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is keen on bring the talented midfielder to Old Trafford in January, after Chelsea joined the race to sign long-term target Kevin Strootman.

The report adds that United will have to face stiff competition from arch rivals City for the player's signature.

United are currently third in the Premier League.
