Man City join race to sign Hummels
Premier League’s defending champions Manchester City have joined in the race to sign defender Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund in January.
With Vincent Kompany once again struggling with his hamstring injury, and Serbian centre back Matija Nastasic rumoured to be on his way to Inter Milan, the Express believes that Manuel Pellegrini will be keen on reinforcing his defence once the transfer window opens next month.
The German international, who has made 236 appearances across all competitions for the Bundesliga giants, is facing a difficult time at the Signal Iduna Park as the Black and Yellows, currently sixteenth in the league table, are battling relegation this season.
However Jurgen Klopp will not be the least bit interested in losing his skipper to the Premier League, but the Chilean manager is reportedly ready to shed out around £47million to try and lure the player to the Etihad Stadium.
Though, Pellegrini will be facing stiff competition from league rivals Arsenal and Manchester United, who are also trying to resolve their defensive woes and will be hoping to bring in the player in the winters.
