Liverpool ready Benteke bid

Liverpool will test Aston Villa's resolve by making a tempting bid for striker Christian Benteke during the winter transfer window.

The Belgium international has been in good form for the Villans in recent weeks following his return from injury.

Widespread reports reveal that the Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen on signing a new striker in January, with flop star Mario Balotelli rumoured to be on his way to Juventus on a permanent deal.

It is also understood that the Merseyside outfit will offer a fee of around £15m in order to lure the talented Belgian to the club before the closure of the transfer window.

Liverpool are eighth in the Premier League with 32 points.
