Aston Villa want Emmanuel Adebayor

Aston Villa have expressed interest in landing the services of Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

The Villains are in search for a new striker with Belgian international Christian Benteke set to join Liverpool, following the Reds decision to trigger the £32m release clause in the player's contract.

According to Birmingham Mail, Sherwood is keen on bringing in the out-of-favour Togolese star to Villa Park this summer.

It is added that Sherwood is confident of getting the best of Adebayor, who struggled to impress under Mauricio Pochettino in the previous campaign.

The former Arsenal man could join the Villains for a bargain fee of just £5m this summer.
