Arsenal clear to sign FRENCH SUPERSTAR

Arsenal look favourites to sign one of the club's long-term targets in the summer transfer window.

France international Karim Benzema has been linked with a move to the Emirates since his days with Lyon.

Reports in France cite that the Gunners will make a second bid of £40m after their initial offer of around £33m was knocked back by Los Blancos.

It is added that the former European champions are most likely to accept the transfer sum, as they seek to bring in Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus as the Frenchman's replacement.

The Gunners have made only one signing in goalkeeper Petr Cech this summer.
