Arsenal made summer bid for Italian Star

Arsenal are understood to have with a summer bid for one of Italy's finest midfielders, according to reports.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was criticised in the media after he made just one signing in goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea during the summer transfer window.

However, The Express now claims that the North London giants had tried to lure Italian midfielder Ricardo Montolivo to the Emirates, but AC Milan rebuffed their approach.

"There's a strange hostility toward Montolivo.There have been several teams asking about him, but neither us or Milan have taken any offers into consideration." Montolivo's agent told the newspaper.
