The German international has spent his entire career in the Bundesliga, and he is now keen on a fresh challenge in a new league.

A report from ItaSportPress claims that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp could seek to add more steel to his backline following recent stumbles in the Premier League.

It is also known that the 48-year-old has earmarked Hummels as the player who could guide the club to a top-four finish this season.

Hummels has also been linked with a move to league rivals Manchester United in recent months.
