West Ham line up Benteke move

West Ham United are understood to be weighing up a summer bid for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke. The Belgian international has had a frustrating season in the Premier League with goals hard to come by.

Benteke joined the Reds from Aston Villa last summer and many felt that he could be the ideal player to take the club back to their glory days.

However, he has struggled to find the net on a regular basis, and currently finds himself as a fringe player under current boss Jurgen Klopp.

According to The Times, the Hammers will seek to bring in a couple of marquee signings before their switch to the Olympic Stadium next season.

It is added that Slaven Bilic's side consider Benteke as one among their top transfer targets for the summer transfer window.

Arsenal attacker Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Tottenham Hotspur ace Nacer Chadli have also been recently linked with the East London side.

The Hammers are currently fifth in the league standings, just two points adrift of the Champions League places.
