Marquinhos could be open to United move

Paris Saint-Germain's Brazilian defender Marquinhos has sparked fresh speculation over his future with comments in the French press today.

Speaking to Le Parisien-Aujourd'hu, the former Roma player said: "Everyone knows that there will be a time to reflect at the end of the season, we will speak about the club's objectives as well as mine and together we will decide what to do. I'm playing and I'm happy, I've been involved in important matches but I have personal objectives. To the fans I can say that my future is still with this team."

With compatriots David Luiz and Thiago Silva blocking his path to regular football in his preferred centre-back position, Marquinhos has spent some time on the substitutes bench, in between opportunities to fill in at full-back this season.

Barcelona are known to be strong admirers of the 21-year-old Seleção defender, but GianlucaDiMarzio.com are reporting that Marquinhos will also consider a switch to Manchester United should José Mourinho take over at Old Trafford next season.

United are thought to be in the market for a young, ball-playing centre-back to partner Chris Smalling. Names such as Aymeric Laporte, Raphael Varane and John Stones all being linked with big money moves to Manchester, and Marquinhos's latest comments will also mark him out as a potential candidate for the Red Devils.
