Gullit: managers need time
After the departure of Sam Allardyce, Ruud Gullit has called on clubs to give managers more time as they strive to make their club successful. The former Newcastle coach has hit out at club's who sack their boss after a poor run of form.
'The interest in the game and the pressure on the chairmen is very big. I think they spend a lot of money on these clubs and they want immediate results.'
'It is not only about buying the good players,' he added. 'It is also about trying to build something up. Sometimes people get the time to do it like Arsene Wenger at Arsenal. But, in the beginning, Alex Ferguson did not have the time at Man Utd, he was almost sacked and then they were patient and said 'look, give him a chance' and look where they are now.'
'I think chairmen sometimes need to be more patient despite the fact that it is difficult, I understand there is a lot of money and a lot of pressure but sometimes you have to do that.'
