Berahino likely to join Tottenham

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes believes Tottenham Hotspur are heading the queue to sign West Bromwich Albion ace Saido Berahino. The 22-year-old had been the subject of multiple bids from Spurs last summer, but the Baggies hierarchy were firm in their desire to keep hold of their star man.

Since then, Berahino has had a decent showing in the top flight, with most of his playing time coming after the turn of the year.

Hughes has now admitted that his side face an uphill task to land the young striker given the interest from a top-four club in Spurs.

“Spurs will always have an interest in quite a few players we are interested in," he told reporters. “If we're being realistic, if a player has a choice of Spurs or Stoke, then we could pitch up and make a good case for them to come here.

“But they may feel Spurs is a more attractive option and we have to accept that."

Berahino has made 32 appearances for the Baggies this campaign.
