Man Utd scout William Carvalho

Manchester United are reported to have had a close eye on Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho. The Portugal international has been constantly linked with a move to the Premier League with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea deemed to be interested in his services.

The Sun says United scouts were in attendance to watch Carvalho during his side's 1-0 win over Moreirense on Saturday.

Louis van Gaal's side are expected to bring in fresh faces this summer as they seek to reinvigorate their squad following an average campaign in the top flight.

United are currently placed fifth in the league standings, four points adrift of a vital Champions League spot.
