Liverpool plan Mustafi talks

Liverpool are set to hold negotiations with Valencia over a summer deal for German defender Shkodran Mustafi. The 24-year-old has struggled to make an impression at Los Che ever since the transfer of Nicolas Otamendi to Manchester City.

The World Cup winner had caught the radar of several Elite clubs last season following his excellent partnership with Otamendi in the central defensive role.

However, with the departure of Otamendi to City, Mustafi has found it hard to keep up his game, and this has led to claims that he may seek a fresh challenge in the summer.

Spanish source Superdeporte says Reds officials will travel to Valencia on Sunday to finalize a transfer agreement for the hard-working centre-back.

Jurgen Klopp's side are currently 7th in the Premier League, nine points adrift of the Champions League places.
