Islam Slimani close to Spurs deal
Tottenham Hotspur are days away from announcing the signing of Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani. The Algerian international had a top season in the Primeira Liga which saw his side come only second to eventual champions Benfica.
The 27-year-old has been on the radar of several English clubs over the past year following his excellent progress for club and country.
According to Portuguese source A Bola, Mauricio Pochettino's side are in advanced talks with Sporting over a £15m transfer for the talented frontman.
The arrival of Slimani could well provide a much-needed relief to Harry Kane, who has taken the goal-scoring burden at White Hart Lane in recent seasons.
Slimani has an excellent record at the national stage netting 23 goals in just 43 appearances for Les Fennecs.
