Luciano Vietto captures Barcelona interest

Barcelona are planning a move for Atletico Madrid forward Luciano Vietto. The 22-year-old had a largely disappointing season following his switch from Villareal last summer.

Vietto joined Atleti from the Yellow Submarines after a fruitful campaign that saw him net 20 goals in all competitions.

However, his displays at Vicente Calderon looked far from his old self, as he struggled to get in the necessary goals to keep him in the reckoning for the first-team.

Mundo Deportivo says the Catalan giants have switched their focus to Vietto after they failed to negotiate a deal to bring Sevilla's Frenchman Kevin Gameiro to Camp Nou.

The report adds that the La Liga champions would be confident of luring the player to the East given he is a close friend of Lionel Messi.

It remains to be seen whether the club can settle a transfer sum with their league rivals.
