Crystal Palace prepare Andros Townsend bid

Crystal Palace look set to trigger the release clause of Newcastle United attacker Andros Townsend in the coming days. The England international was initially picked in Roy Hodgson's preliminary squad for Euro 2016 before he missed out on the 23-man cut.
The People reports that the Eagles are likely to activate the escape clause of the player which currently stands at around £8m.
With Magpies' relegation to the second tier of English football, the 24-year-old is free to discuss terms with any club associated with the Premier League.
Townsend, who joined the Magpies from Tottenham Hotspur in 2014, has already stated his intentions to return to the top flight ahead of this summer's transfer window.
