Manchester United are closing in on the services of Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez. The Colombian is eager to pursue a fresh challenge over the summer.

Rodriguez endured a tough second season at the Bernabeu as he found himself behind the likes of Gareth Bale and Lucas Vazquez for the wider role.

According to Spanish source Don Balon, the player has been house hunting in Manchester ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford.

It is added that manager Jose Mourinho has held talks with mutual agent Jorge Mendes in a bid to pull through the deal in the transfer window.

Real currently value their player at £60m, but United are hopeful of negotiating half the price.

The 24-year-old made just 17 league starts for the European champions last term.
