Sunderland step up Diafra Sakho chase
Sunderland are holding strong interest in Senegalese striker Diafra Sakho despite having a bid rejected from West Ham United earlier in the month.
Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce is desperate to bring in a new centre-forward this summer after his side just about stayed clear of the relegation places last season.
A report from Sunderland Echo claims that the club could renew their pursuit for Sakho with a deal for Edin Dzeko unlikely.
Roma star Dzeko was recently linked with a move to Wearside, but ultimately his wages were just beyond the reach for the Black Cats.
Allardyce has been allotted with a transfer kitty of around £50m to keep the club in the top flight next term.
