United dealt a blow in Pogba chase

Manchester United target Paul Pogba favours a move to Real Madrid over a return to Old Trafford, according to reports.

The Manchester Evening News claims that the player has indicated that it is his preference to join Real Madrid this summer, and if such a move does not materialise, he'd like to stay with Serie A champions Juventus.

"M.E.N. Sport understands Pogba, 23, has intimated he would rather stay at Juve than return to former club United if a Real transfer does not materialise, despite his agent Mino Raiola advising him to join The Reds." The MEN reports.

Pogba was one of the shining lights of the United academy after signing from Le Harvre as a 15-year-old. But due to a lack of first-team opportunites, the midfielder grew discontented.

When the player could not agree terms on a new deal at Old Trafford, he moved to Juventus on a free transfer in 2011.

Pogba quickly became a key player for the Bianconeri, winning the Italian league title in each of his four seasons with the club.

United have been strongly linked with a move to bring Pogba back to Old Trafford this summer, with new manager José Mourinho placing the 23-year-old at the top of his transfer wish-list.

These latest revelations will come as a blow to the Red Devls' chances of re-capturing Pogba, but there remains some hope that they will yet pull off the potentially record breaking transfer, as the MEN claims that the player's agent Mino Raiola is advising Pogba to join United now to improve his chances of a switch to the Bernabéu in three years' time.
