Man City in talks to sign John Stones

Manchester City have began negotiations with Everton to sign young defender John Stones. The England international is desperate to leave the Toffees in the current transfer window.

Stones was the subject of multiple bids from Chelsea last year but the Toffees were firm in their bid to keep hold of their asset.

The 22-year-old followed to have an average season in the top flight with his side struggling to keep clean sheets at the back.

According to The Mirror, the Citizens are holding crunch talks with Toffees boss Ronald Koeman as they bid to negotiate a price for the central defender.

The Toffees are currently holding out on a £51m sum for the transfer, but this could well come down, should Wilfried Bony be offered as makeweight in the proposed deal.

Everton are on the search for a new centre-forward, and Bony suits the club's requirements.
