Man Utd launch €125m Pogba bid

Manchester United have tabled a potentially world record breaking bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, according to reports in Italy.

Gazzetta dello Sport claims that United have finally acted on their interest in Pogba by lodging a bid of €100 million, plus conditional bonuses which could see Juventus receive up to €125 million if they choose to sell the player.

Gazzetta dello Sport is also reporting that the Red Devils have offered Pogba a huge contract which would see the Frenchman earn a staggering €15m per year, more than tripling his current Juventus salary.

Pogba played for United as a teenager, but left the club in 2012, having grown frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities he was being afforded by then United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The gifted midfielder moved to Juventus on a free transfer -- although the Bianconeri were made to pay an £800,000 compensation fee -- and immediately became a key player for the Old Lady.

Pogba has won the Serie A title in each of his four seasons in Turin, and he also helped his side reach the Champions League final in 2015, before losing to Barcelona in Berlin.

It is believed that United have always retained a casual interest in bringing Pogba back to the club, but were discouraged by the prospect of having to break the bank for a player they previously allowed to leave for next to nothing.

But new manager José Mourinho has identified Pogba as a primary target, and it seems he could be about to get his man.
