Man Utd open talks for Fabinho

Manchester United have started off discussions with AS Monaco for Brazilian full-back Fabinho. Jose Mourinho is not convinced with the abilities of Matteo Darmian.

Fabinho, who was previously in the ranks of Real Madrid, has appeared in 133 games for the Principality outfit.

Brazilian source Globoesporte says the Red Devils have stepped up their pursuit for the 22-year-old after Monaco expressed willingness to offload their asset.

United boss Mourinho is keen on recruiting a recognised right-back this summer with Antonio Valencia in a poor run of form whilst Darmian is likely to play a bit-part role next season.

Fabinho has earned four caps for the Brazilian national team with his debut coming against Mexico in 2015.

Monaco are likely to accept offers in excess of £18m for their player.
