Everton revive Ashley Williams interest

Everton are set to return for former target Ashley Williams with John Stones nearing a move to Manchester City. The Welshman has been committed to Swansea City despite interest from several English clubs.

The 31-year-old had been on the Toffees radar in 2014, before he penned a fresh four-year contract at the Liberty Stadium.

The Mirror says the Toffees will revive their long-standing interest in Williams with Stones set to part ways with the club.

Stones is currently the subject of an approach from Manchester City, and a deal is likely to be finalized once the clubs come to terms over a transfer sum.

On the other hand, the Swans may cash in on their club-captain given he is on wrong side of 30, and would garner a decent price for his sale.

The centre-back was key performer for Wales this summer as they reached the semi-finals of the European championships.
