Lukaku: where does he go next?

Romelu Lukaku is one of Europe's hottest forward prospects but has yet to have decided on his future; with the likes of Arsenal interested, Lukaku has some big decisions to make.

At the age of 16, Romelu Lukaku was already considered one of Europe's best young prospects when playing regularly for Belgian side Anderlecht. A mega money transfer move to Chelsea was pushed through, but Lukaku failed to make the grade at Stamford Bridge and was ushered out on loan to Everton. Two years ago Everton pulled all of their resources together to wrap up a deal for Lukaku and that now looks to be a very shrewd move by the Toffees. Lukaku is now seen as one of Europe's best strikers and clubs are queuing up for his services.

But where should he go next? Arsenal, Napoli and former club Chelsea are all in the race for the striker; and eyefootball analyze the Belgian international's options.

CHELSEA: One thing that is not in Chelsea's favour when it comes to signing Lukaku is the fact that the Belgian really didn't get much of a chance at Stamford Bridge. He also will have to compete with the likes of Diego Costa for regular first team action and the Blues are known to chop and change their squad season by season. Is it the right time of Lukaku's career to drop to the bench or should he be playing regular first team football? For Everton, it's a golden opportunity to recoup almost three times the money that they paid for Lukaku. This one works for the club, but it doesn't work for the player.

ARSENAL: Arsenal have been linked with just about every striker in Europe these days. Olivier Giroud is probably getting frustrated that after an impressive Euro 2016 campaign, he still is facing the possibility of life on the bench next season. For Lukaku, Arsenal seems to be the best option in England. Arsenal fans are frustrated with their frontman options and Lukaku completely fits the bill. With an already power packed midfield of talent, Arsenal need a top striker and Lukaku needs a top club. If he wants to be one of the world's top strikers, he needs to move to Arsenal to showcase his talents. This one is a no brainer for the Gunners.

NAPOLI: Gonzalo Higuain has just departed the Serie A side for a move to Juventus and Napoli have buckets of cash to spend on a striking replacement. Italian football does not really suit Lukaku's style and many would see moving to Italy as a bit of a step down, but what it does guarantee for Lukaku is almost hero-like status and guaranteed 35+ games a season action for the player.

Stay at EVERTON: This seems to be Lukaku's best option. He is guaranteed a place in the starting line up, Ronald Koeman has been brought in to steady the ship and the club has new ownership who are ready to spend huge amounts of money to make the Toffees a force to be reckoned with next season. Lukaku is loved by the Everton fans and is forgiven for his mistakes when they happen. At a bigger club these errors are likely to be showcased. After all, Lukaku still makes mistakes in front of goal - he is still young.

Whatever next for Lukaku, this transfer move is sure to be the toughest decision of his career.
