Chelsea are set to offer stiff competition to Arsenal in the pursuit of Valencia centre-back Shkodran Mustafi. The German has been tipped to make a Premier League move this summer.

The Gunners consider the player as the ideal option to bolster their backline after Per Mertesacker was ruled out for five months with a knee injury.

According to TMW, the World Cup winner has travelled to the English capital to finalize personal terms with the North London outfit.

However, there could be a twist to the tale with the Blues seemingly keen on the player.

The 24-year-old has emerged as a fresh target for the Blues after they failed negotiate a price for Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly.

Mustafi was recently left out Los Che's friendly against Bournemouth, and this has ignited speculation over his future.

He has appeared in 78 games for Valencia since his switch from Schalke 04 in 2014.
