West Brom cancel Diafra Sakho agreement
West Bromwich Albion have ended their pursuit for striker Diafra Sakho after it was deemed he would not be fit for the new season. The 26-year-old is on the search for a new club as he has no future at West Ham United.
The Senegal international joined the Hammers under Sam Allardyce's reign in 2014, and played a key role in the centre-forward position.
However, with the appointment of Slaven Bilic last term, he struggled to firm a regular place in the starting line-up with injuries and lack of fitness playing some part.
The Baggies had a club-record £16m offer accepted for the player earlier in the week, but his failure to pass a medical has forced the Midlands side to call off the agreement, BBC Sport says.
The news will come as a big blow for contract rebel Saido Berahino, who was expected to find a fresh club on the arrival of a new marksman.
Sakho appeared in just 23 games for the Hammers last term.
