West Ham clinch record deal for Andre Ayew
West Ham United have announced the arrival of Swansea City attacker Andre Ayew for a fee of £20.5m. The Ghanaian impressed in his debut campaign in the Premier League last term.
The 26-year-old joined the Swans on a free transfer from Marseille last summer, and played a key role in their quest to beat the drop.
Interest in the forward had escalated over the past month after it emerged that he would invite offers from clubs, who could compete in Europe next season.
The Hammers had been constantly ringing the player's entourage in recent weeks, and it is now confirmed that they have paid a club-record £20.5m fee for his signature.
"The club have a lot of ambition and have a great manager," Ayew told the club's official website.
"They want to become a bigger club every year and with the new stadium and a new training ground, you can feel they are moving on to another level and I want to be part of this project."
Andy Carroll was previously the club's most-expensive recruit having joined from Liverpool for £15m in 2013.
Ayew racked 12 goals in 34 outings in the 2015-16 season.
