Juve forced to rethink Pogba replacement options

Juventus are set to miss out on the signing of Blaise Matuidi, with Paris Saint Germain chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi insisting that the midfielder will not be leaving the French champions this summer.

After seeing his side thrash Lyon 4-1 in the Trophee des Champions, Al-Khelaifi told reported "he’s the heart of the club" in reference to Matuidi when questioned about the midfielder's availability.

It is believed that Juventus saw Matuidi as the perfect replacement for Paul Pogba, who is set to complete a world record switch to Manchester United this week, and the Bianconeri were reportedly willing to pay €30 million for the 29-year-old.

But now it seems that they will have to move onto other targets with Matuidi set to remain in the French capital for the time being.

The Old Lady have also been linked with a move for Chelsea's Nemanja Matic as a potential Pogba replacement, with the player thought to be unhappy at Stamford Bridge and open to joining the Italian champions.

With the arrival of N'Golo Kanté at Chelsea -- the Frenchman has been signed from Premier League Champions Leicester City for £32 million -- Matic could well be surplus to requirements, so perhaps now Juve will explore that avenue.

Juventus are set to recieve a word record €110 million transfer fee from the sale of Pogba, althought they have already spent an Italian record of €90 million on signing Gonzalo Higuaín from Napoli.
