Arsenal readying second Riyad Mahrez bid

Arsenal set to return with Fresh Mahrez offer

Arsenal are set to make a second bid to sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City, according to reports.

The Gunners reportedly made an initial offer of £30 million for the reigning PFA Player of the Year, which Leicester immediately rejected.

However, it is now believed that the Gunners are set to make an improved second offer of £35 million for the Algerian winger.

It is believed that Mahrez is keen to join Arsenal, and his agent is due to meet with the Leicester hierarchy today to discuss the possibility of a move for the former Le Havre player.

Leicester signed Mahrez 18 months ago for £400,000. Initially, the France-born Algerian found it hard to break into the Foxes' starting eleven under Nigel Pearson. But last season, Mahrez became a key figure for Leicester under Claudio Ranieri. His goals and assists were one of the main driving factors behind Leicester's remarkable Premier League triumph.

Arsenal have already tried to raid Leicester for one of they top stars this summer, when they activated Jamie Vardy's £20 million release clause in June.

The England striker decided to turn down Arsenal's offer in favour of remaining at the King Power Stadium.

Now it seems that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has his eyes on another Leicester player, as he looks to boost his attacking options with the signing of Mahrez.
