Danny Drinkwater turns down Leicester deal
Danny Drinkwater has snubbed a fresh contract at Premier League champions Leicester City amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Englishman has two years left on his existing contract.
The 26-year-old was one of the many standout performers for the Foxes last term as they lifted an unprecedented and historic league title.
According to The Sun, the Foxes had offered Drinkwater with a £80,000-a-week deal which is more than double of what he is currently earning.
But, his agent swiftly turned down the approach with Spurs keen on pursuing the midfielder's signature before the transfer deadline.
Despite helping the Foxes win the English crown, Drinkwater failed to make the England squad for the European championships in France. He has previously iterated his desire to stay put at the King Power Stadium.
