Daryl Janmaat to complete Watford switch

Netherlands international defender Daryl Janmaat will complete a transfer to Watford this week in a deal worth a reported 6.5 million GBP. The versatile defender will make a return to the Premier League and sign a four year contract.

Watford have been desperately seeking a defender to add to their squad and will be delighted to have secured a deal for the impressive Janmaat; one of a few players at Newcastle United that impressed in their ill-fated campaign last year.

Janmaat had also attracted the interest of Ajax and even the likes of Arsenal as Arsene Wenger seeks backup defensive cover for the injured Per Mertesacker and Gabriel.
