Spurs to rival Liverpool for Lucas Alario
Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly go head-to-head with Liverpool for the services of River Plate striker Lucas Alario. The 23-year-old has progressed well over the past year, and this had captured interest from the Reds over the summer.
Jurgen Klopp's side were initially eyeing a summer deal for the Argentine forward before they were put off by his £8.5m asking price.
The Sun reports that the Reds will revive their pursuit for the marksman in the New Year following his recent call-up to his national side for the World Cup qualifiers.
However, this time around they could face a tussle with Spurs whose manager Mauricio Pochettino has sent scouts to keep an eye on the promising star.
Alario, who joined the Capital side from Colon last summer, has racked an impressive tally of 17 goals over the past year. He has a £15m release clause in his present deal which was signed earlier this month.
