Chelsea line up Ben Davies bid

Chelsea are prepared to lodge a winter bid for Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies. The Wales international is currently playing second fiddle to Danny Rose for the left-back role.

Blues boss Antonio Conte is on the search for a suitable defender who can play in his three-man defence and Davies fits the bill given his adaptation to the position with his national side.

According to ESPN, the West London giants will place their emphasis on bolstering their backline over the winter period having kept just one cleansheet in the opening six games of the new campaign.

Davies has been deputizing for Rose in the Premier League this term whilst he has earned playing time in the Cup games.

The former Swansea City man is valued at around £20m, and the Blues are hoping to recruit him at such a price when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
