Fletcher and Evans set for new West Brom deals

The Baggies want to tie down the former Man Utd pair

West Bromwich Albion are hopeful of tying both Darren Fletcher and Jonny Evans down to new long-term contracts, according to reports.

The Telegraph is reporting that West Bromwich Albion intend to offer new deals to former Manchester United duo Darren Fletcher and Jonny Evans.

Fletcher joined the Baggies in 2015, and has rediscovered his best form at the Hawthorns, after a bout with ulcerative colitis threatened to completely derail his career at Old Trafford. SO respected was the Scottish international midfielder that, upon joining the club, he was given the captain’s arm band, and his influence has been key for the West Midlanders.

Evans also joined West Brom from United in 2015, and the Northern Irishman has impressed in the centre of the Baggies defence.

The 28-year-old’s future was the debate of much speculation during the summers, and he was constantly linked with a £16 million move to Arsenal, with the Gunners in the hunt for defensive reinforcements after Gabriel Paulista and Per Mertesacker were both ruled out with long term injuries.

But Arsenal ended up splashing £35 million to sign German World Cup winning defender Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia, and Evans remained at the Hawthorns.

But the Baggies will be keen to but any future speculation over Evans’ future to bed and tie him down to a new long term contract.
