Memphis Depay could be set for AC Milan switch

The Dutch winger could be set to leave Old Trafford

Manchester United’s Dutch winger could be set for a January move to Serie A to join AC Milan, according to reports in Italy.

Tuttomercatoweb is reporting that AC Milan are lining up a January swoop for Manchester United’s Dutch international winger Memphis Depay.

The 22-year-old former PSV Eindhoven attacker has struggled to make the impact expected of him since his £26 million move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2015.

And Depay has featured sparingly since Jose Mourinho tool charge of the Red Devils this season, making only a handful of substitute’s appearances thus far, and showing no signs of recapturing the form that saw him selected for the Holland squad for the 2014 World Cup, and that led PSV to the Eredivisie title the following season.

Depay moved to Old Trafford at the start of last season, and was initially a first choice starter on the left wing under Louis van Gaal, but only produced his best form in a small number of games.

The Dutchman scored twice in a Champions League qualifying tie against Club Brugge in August, and looked outstanding against Danish side FC Midtjylland in the Europa League in February.

But there have been far more frustrating and below par outings from Depay, and he appears to lack the confidence which saw him finish as the Eredivisie’s top scorer in his final season in Holland, and a move to Serie A could now be on the cards, as he looks to get his career back on track.
