Barca eyeing Lichtsteiner deal

Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez was keeping a close eye on Stephan Lichtsteiner during Switzerland's 2-1 win over Andorra in the World Cup qualifiers.

The 32-year-old, who was a transfer target for Chelsea in the summer, has seen his playing time cut short this season with Dani Alves being preferred for the right-back role.

Luis Enrique's side have been utilizing the services of Sergi Roberto in the right side of the defence this term, but with the La Masia graduate making crucial mistakes, a new signing could be on the cards this winter.

Spanish source Fichajes claims that Fernandez was present in the stands on Monday night to track the performance of Lichtsteiner.

Hoffenheim centre-half Fabian Schar was another being watched by the Spanish champions as they bid to freshen up their backline.

Barcelona do have a back-up right-back in Aleix Vidal in their ranks, but Enrique is not entirely convinced with his abilities.
